Simply put, watercolor nature painting, from initial outdoor inspiration to immersing myself in the painting process and then viewing it completed in a frame, has become my passion over the past 5 years.

After retiring from a career in physical therapy I ventured upon a long time goal of learning to paint. Starting with various online watercolor classes, I was fascinated with the various techniques and results when paint and water are combined and placed on paper.

One teacher in particular inspired me to begin painting animals. I love the development of character that comes from painting the eyes of a fox, creating the tilt of an owl’s head or using granulating paints to produce a fur-like texture. Each animal comes alive on the paper with its own unique personality!

As a New England based watercolor artist, I am inspired by the varied geography and wildlife in our region. Being outside, walking in nature provides a sense of peace, while at the same time offering an abundance of sensory experiences and a feeling of awe at the wonders around us.
