Featured Artist 1 - Fall

Jeff Nelson – Hudson River Inlay

Jeff is a fine artist, working in wood. Each piece is meticulously handmade. The creation of an exclusive Hudson River Inlay begins first with a rough sketch by the artist.  The next step is to capture the essence of the subject with just a few subtle lines that convey its motion and vitality. The result is a final line drawing that serves as a blueprint for each individual piece of art.

Next, the artist carefully selects the various woods for his palette...with an eye for the natural

grains and hues of the veneers that will give warmth and subtle shading to the finished work.

The veneers are precision cut, then assembled and finished by hand to form the one-of-a-kind

wood image. The result is a masterful piece of marquetry art of unmatched beauty and elegance.

Featured Artist 2 - Fall

Mary Walsh-Martel, Shire Arts

Having spent 32 years owning a specialty toy shop and closing the door on that career, I was elated that a new door opened in my life that answered my need to create.  Through the medium of watercolor, I began to learn to see my love of the natural world through the eyes of an artist.

Inspired by the drama of light and dark, I have been on a watercolor journey to convey my fascination with nature, its permanence and decay, through the beautiful transparency of the paint.  My job is to harness the way in which watercolor behaves as it meets the paper, and to further allow the colors to mix and blend as they choose.  Allowing the movement of the pigment on its own often provides some beautiful surprises. The transparent nature of the paint lets the white of the paper underneath reflect the light, which can make a painting glow. These qualities have always drawn me to this amazing, magical medium.

I use only 100% cotton watercolor paper in either 140 or 300 lb. weight and professional grade pigments to insure lightfast, rich and luminous color..

Featured Artist 3 - Fall

Rebecca Piermarini, Traveling Boho Designs

Becca is a multi-talented artist, working in several different mediums. For the Fall Arts & Crafts Festival she will be highlighting her custom headwear. Far from boring, her hats are all styled with unique burned artwork. She has wide-brimmed hats and baseball caps as well. It doesn’t end there, though, because she is also bringing her custom designed crowns and headbands: these are adorned with metals, crystals, and dried flowers, creating a beautiful and whimsical look you just won’t find anywhere else.
